GETEC’s Insights in the Audi eTron 55 Quattro

The evaluation focus has been set to the control of the powertrain system containing the vehicle control unit (VCU), the two axles’ motor control units (MCU), and the battery management system (BMS) cooperating with ABS/ESP and other control units. The VCU is in charge of the torque management of the two axles, energy management incl. thermal control and power management incl. high-voltage power-up and -down. The two MCUs are regulating the motor current based on the VCU torque demand and give feedback to the VCU about actual torque and the capacity. The ABS system is defining the torque demand during braking from mechanical brakes and from e-motors (recuperation). ESP is joining the dynamic vehicle control with features like brake torque vectoring.
