DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH SPEED ELECTRIC MOTORS – 22,000 RPM AND THE CHALLENGES
How can you develop a sustainable, space-saving and cost-optimized powertrain? We propose to use the concept with a high-speed electric motor in conjunction with a transmission for passenger cars.
Higher speeds have good potential for future development for the following reasons:
+Saving expensive and limited resources
+Current reduction without voltage increase
+No gearshift or one-way clutch
A permanent magnet synchronous machine is chosen for development because the first concept analysis shows that the advantages for this technology in combination with 22,000 rpm outweigh the disadvantages.
GETEC Getriebe Technik GmbH meets the challenges of an optimized power-to-weight ratio, high-speed, durable components, compact integration of electric motor and transmission, and the shortest possible time intervals by pursuing a strict module strategy and using the same components for different drive train configurations (see figure).
